Why I Love This Recipe

For those unfamiliar with Basmati Rice this is a way it can be prepared.

Ingredients You'll Need

Place 2 tbsp olive oil in 12-inch skillet, add 1/4 cup finely minced onion and saute till softened. Stir in 1 cup basmati rice and 1/2 tsp salt.
Stir gently until rice is coated with oil and glistening.
Add 2 cups BOILING water and stir briefly.
Turn heat to the lowest setting, put a lid on the skillet and set a timer for 20 minutes.
DO NOT lift the lid or disturb the rice for the entire time.
After 20 minutes, remove skillet from heat, remove lid, and place a clean tea towel over the rice & replace the lid.
Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes.
Transfer rice to serving dish and enjoy the best rice you've ever eaten!

Directions

This recipe works for any kind or rice (regular white, long grain, brown, jasmine, etc), but you may have to adjust the amount of rice/water ratio as the package directs.

Questions, Comments & Reviews

Thank you so much for this one! My Iranian aunt does the best Basmati rice ever and even though she gave me the recipe a thousand times, I'd never managed to make it as good. Now I can!! Thank you!! : ) : ) : )

After tasting Basmati rice, one tends to gravitate towards it over white rice. It's so flavorful, nutty, and even delicious on its own with some butter. If you haven't tried it...then please do, you might be a convert! Zina
