Why I Love This Recipe

This is an old-fashioned cake. I got the recipe from the grandmother of my daughter's friend. Nothing fancy at all about it, but it has a good flavor that goes well with strawberries, peaches, etc. If you haven't had a plain cake lately, this is one to try.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 cup milk
1 stick butter
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk
1 stick butter

Directions

Boil first 2 ingredients (milk and butter) and set aside.

Blend eggs and sugar. Add flour, baking powder, and vanilla. Stir in milk/butter. Mix until lumps disappear.

Bake of one hour at 350 degrees in a 9 x 13 pan for about 30 minutes. For tube pan, bake 50-60 minutes. Watch the cake. When it springs back when touched, it is done.

Good served with strawberries or fresh peaches.
