Why I Love This Recipe

I grew up loving Egg Custard Pie with its creamy texture, and sweet, but not over the top sweet taste accented with a spicy nutmeg flavor. I credit my Daddy for passing on his love of this wonderful southern dessert to me.

Ingredients You'll Need

6 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 cups milk
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust (I use Easy 3-Step Pastry Crust)

Directions

Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Then beat in vanilla, salt and nutmeg. Stir in milk. Pour into crust.

Bake in preheated 475 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce temp to 350 degrees and bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and filling is set.
