Why I Love This Recipe

A while back a good friend passed this recipe on to me. It's one of the best "wet" style bbq rib recipes I've ever tasted. She got it from a friend who claimed to have invented it. As to where "Zug Island" is? I have no idea.

Ingredients You'll Need

3 slabs baby back ribs
salt and pepper
3 cups ketchup
1 large Spanish onion, finely diced
1/2 cup worcestershire
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/3 cup molasses
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

Season the ribs on both sides with salt and pepper.

Put the seasoned ribs in a deep pan and cover with tin foil, making sure the pan is sealed with the foil.

Do not add water.

Put the ribs in a preheated 350 degree oven and cook for 1 hour 45 minutes or until tender.

Saute onion in olive oil for 5 to 10 minutes or until onion turns translucent.

Mix together the other ingredients and simmer over low heat, approximately 45 minutes.

After the ribs are done cooking, put them on a barbecue or grill over medium heat and brown on both sides.

Coat with sauce and continue to grill for about 5 minutes, watching that they don't burn because of the high sugar content.
